Ants on a Log

This is so easy, I’ve been doing it since I was about 8 years old. It’s still yummy and filling and fairly low-carb.

  • Celery
  • Peanut Butter
  • Raisins, Dried Cranberries, or other dried fruit

  1. Clean celery & chop off ends
  2. Fill concave side with peanut butter
  3. Top with raisins or other dried fruit

I’ve been told you can use cream cheese instead of peanut butter, but that sounds weird to me.

I keep this low-carb by using “old-fashioned” peanut butter. The only ingredients are “peanuts, salt.” This means it separates a lot and I have to do quite a bit of stirring, but it works for me.

If you use regular raisins, it’s just ants on a log. If you use dried cranberries, it’s fire-ants on a log. Apparently there are a few species of ants that are yellow in color, so golden raisins = yellow ants on a log?

Anyway, I love eating this for breakfast.
