FAQ: Do all of your ferrets get along? | Onyx, Jasper, Amber, and Rusty have always gotten along great. Opal never liked Amber or Rusty, but now that Opal has passed we have no further issues in this regard.

FAQ: How can you tell Jasper and Onyx apart? | Onyx usually has a completely dark head, with white fur around her mouth and nose, spilling down her chest. She does sometimes get lighter patches behind her eyes, and sometimes even a faint bar across her whole forehead, but her forehead and cheeks are always on the darker side. Jasper has a bright white bar across his forehead, behind his eyes, and around his whole face. If you see bright white cheeks and forehead, it’s Jasper, not Onxy.

FAQ: How can you tell Jasper and Rusty apart? | Rusty is fatter than Jasper. It’s not always easy to tell them apart at just a glance, but it’s obvious once we pick one of them up.

FAQ: What is a third Marshall Tattoo? | Marshall is the largest ferret breeder in the US. They tattoo their ferrets with a dot in one ear to signify that they’ve been neutered, and a second dot in the same ear to indicate that they’ve been de-scented. The ferrets that are sent to labs for animal testing only have one dot, as they are neutered but not de-scented. Some doctors mark ferrets with a third dot somewhere on one paw as a kind of signature, identifying (somehow) which vet did the neuter & de-scenting procedure. Not all doctors do this, and the dot can be hard to find.
