Turkey Apple Sausage

Turkey Apple Sausage I know it sounds weird to put apples in sausage, but it adds a sweetness and a slight crunch that’s really nice! You can treat these patties like breakfast sausage and serve them with eggs and potatoes, or dress them like burgers with picnic-ready sides like baked beans and potato salad. I like mine topped with green jalapeno hot sauce!

INGREDIENTS

  • 16oz Ground Turkey
  • 1 Egg, Beaten
  • 1 Apple, Diced
  • 1 Yellow or White Onion, Diced
  • 6 TBSP Quick Cooking Oats
  • 1/2 TBSP Salt
  • 1 tsp Ground Sage
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp White Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Cayenne Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Smoked Paprika

DIRECTIONS

  1. Add the ground turkey to a bowl. Sprinkle all other ingredients on top, then massage together until well combined.
  2. Separate the mixture into 8 even portions. Roll each portion into a ball, then gently flatten.
  3. Saute in olive oil and butter over medium heat. Once one side is nicely browned, flip patties and cover pan with lid.
  4. Check patties often & remove when cooked all the way through.
