CHARACTER INFO

Originally I made a dark/kin corruptor, and I wanted to name her The Speed of Dark, because I thought it was funny. Then Liz convinced me to name her Dark-(something) to go along with Liz's Dark-stream. So Dark-Speed was born. I didn't end up playing Dark-Speed very much, and finally deleted her. Then I rerolled her as Cold/Dark. I would have liked to name her Cold Dark Energy, but that was taken, and it really didn't go with the costume (which has remained unchanged), so it took a while, but I settled on Cold Dark Voodoo.

FULL BACK-STORY

Nightmares feed off of the energy of fear. It's their nourishment. Being from the dreaming plane, they have a totally different mentality than we do, a different sense of what is real and what isn't. Cold Dark Voodoo (originally Dark-Speed) and Cassis Rose (originally Dark-Vine) are both typical nightmares who travelled to Paragon through the rift that Dark-stream (created?). They both enjoyed the feast of fear in the Rogue Isles for a short time. However, reality is different in Paragon than on the dreaming plane. Dark-stream adapted easily, apparently mostly unchanged, but Dark-Speed and Dark-Vine did not. Perhaps it is the female-ness of their nature (though nightmares have no true gender), but something caused them to develop an emotion similar to empathy. Whenever they feasted on the fear of others, they began to feel that same fear themselves. Both fought against it, only one succeeded. Dark-Vine became Cassis Rose, and still lives in the Rogue Isles, delighting in causing fear in others. Dark-Speed found that she could not adapt to the sensation of fear, and so ceased to exist ... mostly. When a person wakes up from a fearful dream, the nightmare simply retreats back into the dreaming plane, easy to do since they don't really exist in our universe to begin with. Unable to retreat back to her home dimension, Dark-Speed lost herself in the fabric of the universe. But then, what is the fabric of the universe? Cold Dark Matter and Cold Dark Energy are the most plentiful forms of stuff in the universe - and that's what Dark-Speed became. She cannot reckon when she regained a sense of self, but when she did, she found her reflexes slowed, her thoughts more solid, and an altered sense of reality. She still does not perceive in the same way that most humans do, but nor does she see reality in the ways of the dreaming plane. She is Of The Universe, now.

She identifies most closely with The Elysian Absolute, another universal force given physical form. They both have an otherworldly air about them, they seem to always be in many places at once, their attention never fully focused on the here and now. Their emotions, or what they have that pass for emotions, are not easily expressable in human terms. They can communicate with other life forms using our language, but they only share a true understanding with each other, and other Universal Beings (which have no vocal form of communication, by the way, as they exist in a quantum state of being aware of everything at once - which is not to say they know everything, it's just that everything that ever was, is and ever shall be, tickles at their conciousness at the same time).
